Paigree and ReeAnne had a great season, the weather was great and the company wonderful. Our neighbors Maddison and Cassidy Fitzsimmons were on the same team as the girls. Michael Fitzsimmons played on a younger team. All in all they all did well. Good job Gals and Guy!

Building our chicken coop

Building our chicken coop this summer (2008). I think those hens have a pretty good looking place to hang out. What do you think? We now have about 30 chickens that we are waiting for them to grow up to give us some eggs. We have New Hampshires and brown leg horns.

August 23, 2008 Daisy has her puppies

Daisy gives birth August 23,2008

Daisy gave birth to 4 health puppies on August 23, 2008. She did well and is a very good Mommy. She had 2 girls and 2 boys. Things were going well until the puppies were 10 days old and out of no where we lost the smallest little boy. He was fine one minute and then gone the next with no explanation as to why. Then again four days later sorrow hit our family again and we noticed that one of the little girl puppies had lost a little bit of weight and would occasionally make a strange noise. We took her to the vet right away and the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. We took her home and when I went to take her out of the basket and she wasn't breathing and was limp. I aroused her and could tell immediately that the outcome wasn't going to be good. She passed away the next day in my hands.

After more conversations with the vet it sounds like they may have had what they call "Canine Herpes". It is something they can get from the mom and when they are so young they are unable to fight the virus. We are taking every measure possibe to protect the other two puppies and are hoping and praying that they will make it. About the only way to kill the virus is to raise the body temperature to over 100 degrees. We trying our best to keep them as warm as possible. So far, so good.
